What's with the beat, man?

Why we play the Caribbean beats?

(Ok, bear with us while we learn to run this blogging site..)

Caribbean beats are so groovy, one can't stop moving once you give it a chance.
Labeled "up-beat" by many, they put a smile on your face and make you feel good in a healing way.

JaSkaMon likes to use three of the most popular ones: reggae, ska, and soca.

Unlike rock, country, blues, folk, and the normal stuff you hear, these styles work on the "off-beat"; that means in essence that the rhythm emphasizes the opposite beats. This creates a style that pushes and pulls all at the same time and lends itself to a sort of hypnotic state or trance.

One can take a popular tune like "Love Is All Around" (60's tune by the Troggs) and revamp it into reggae and come up with a fresh, cool version. (JaSkaMon 1st album)   or "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Credence (JSM 4th album), this time ska.. etc.

Original creations that the band write are usually written with the style in mind and not needing any revamping..

"Too Much Coffee" -ska  (3rd album)
"Sha-la-la-la" - soca  (2nd album)

"Yin & Yang"  -ska  (5th album)
woops, getting ahead of ourselves;
there is no 5th album..
yet.
